Law enforcement authorities have arrested two men allegedly circulating counterfeit bills in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
A report from the Negros Oriental Philippine National Police provincial office identified the suspects as Romel Bautista Dumadanog, 48, married, a resident of Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City and Gilbert Caroro Tumapon, 58, single, also from Dumaguete.
Confiscated from the possession of the suspects were four pieces P500 bills having the same serial numbers, another set of eight other P500 bills with the same serial number, two pieces P1000 bills with the same serial number and two more P1000 bills with the same serial number, 32 pieces of P20 paper bills, 11 pieces P100 bills, several coins, a cellphone and a motorcycle.
Also recovered from the suspects were identification cards of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Internal Revenue and Guardians Brotherhood as well as receipts from a money courier outlet.
The police report said the suspects were caught in the act of having in their possession the fake Philippine peso bills in Barangay Basak, Guihulngan. They were arrested by a joint team of operatives from the Guihulngan City police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Both suspects are to be charged for violation of Section 168 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines. (PNA/JFP)
