The Bureau of Customs in Dumaguete has again exceeded its target collection this year to the tune of P150,364,283.00 against its target of P75 million.
Last year’s collection was P81,758,957.47 only or an increase of P68,605,325.53 or 83.91 percent, according to Dumaguete Customs collector Medolita Cabanag in her year-end report to the BOC in Manila.
Cabanag said the bulk of the collection comes from the palm oil exportation courtesy of the Wilmar Edible Oil Philippines, Inc. as well as exportation of limestone, ammonium nitrate, coconut oil, molasses among others as an import-oriented port.
In lieu of this achievement, the BOC has awarded Wilmar Edible Oil Philippines, Inc. as the top exporter of the year while Bensing Raguingin was also awarded as Outstanding Broker of the year for the bureau.
Cabanag stressed that the bureau is working hard to come up with the challenge to meet its target during the last three to four years, thanking its clients for the support and cooperation extended to them in paying the rights taxes for the government. (PNA/JFP/Juancho Gallarde)
