The Department of Agrarian Reform and Silliman University recently signed a memorandum of agreement the Business Development Services under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services project.
Regional Director Stephen Leonidas, and President Ben S. Malayang III signed the MOA after Silliman University passed the eligibility requirements as consultant through a competitive bidding, incompliance with R.A. 9184 known as An Act Providing for the Modernization, Standardization and Regulation of the Procurement Activities of the government and for Other Purposes.
The services and activities to be delivered to the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations by Silliman through the College of Business Administration headed by Dean Atty. Gloria Futalan, include: training and coaching on the development of a business plan and agri—enterprise management, basic marketing concepts and management, market consolidation, product development, upgrading with agri-enterprises, financial management, organizational development and leadership for Agri-enterprise Management, HRD and management in agri-enterprise, and coaching.
President Malayang gave the statement of commitment and said, “We are committed because this is an opportunity to make a difference”.
ARCCESS Project is a support service delivery mechanism of the DAR, created to contribute to the overall goal of rural poverty reduction, particularly in agrarian reform areas.
Present during the signing of the MOA were DAR Assistant Directors Dr. Antonio Del Socorro, Eddie Agac-ac and members of the Bidding and Awards Committee of DAR Region VII, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers Grace Fua and Atty. Louie Naranjo; and Atty. Elizabeth Karla Aguilan and Loren Ann Lachica. (PR)
