Dauin VM-elect Jeffrey Araula dies

Dauin Vice Mayor-elect Atty. Jeffrey Teves Araula (LP) succumbed to liver cancer last week in Manila.

Araula, 62, was preparing to undergo a liver transplant soon after his electoral victory.

His body was brought home to Negros Oriental last Friday. En route to Dauin, the funeral cortege stopped by the Negros Oriental Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he served as Provincial Warden for 16 years.

Araula served as Municipal Mayor of Dauin from 1980 to 1986 under the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan party.

With his death, the number one Councilor of Dauin, Efren Partosa, will succeed the vice mayoralty post and a new councilor will be named to take the eighth slot in the Municipal Council will soon be announced.

Interment is scheduled for Saturday, June 29 at 2 p.m. at the Dauin Memorial Park.
