With the Holy Bible printed on their uniforms, one of the smallest schools in Dumaguete City captured the championship in Athletics in the high school division during the City Athletic Meet held Nov. 28 until Dec 1st.

Presbyterian Theological College outdueled over 10 other schools competing in the event.

Only four schools were able to take gold medals in the high school division. PTC captured 13 golds, Silliman University got 11 golds, Dumaguete City High School bagged four golds, and Junob High School won two golds.

Outstanding performances were turned in by PTC’s Reyshel Queding, Ann Quitoy, Marjorie Uy, and Ian Lagahit, all capturing three individual gold medals.

In the elementary division, Silliman reigned supreme, taking 12 gold medals. Following close behind was West District with nine golds, PTC with six golds, and North District getting one gold.

Capturing three individual gold medals were PTC’s April Ramacho and West District athlete Joshua Bayot.

Now the focus is on the upcoming Regional Athletic Meet to be held the first week of February. Hopefully, there will be an improvement over last year’s regional meet wherein the City of Dumaguete sent only one athlete in the sport of Athletics to the Palarong Pambansa.

That athlete, Ann Quitoy a ninth grader at PTC, returns to this year’s regional meet, and hopes to return to the Palaro again.
