A 50-kilometer ultramarathon is being organized for Saturday, Dec. 7 to mark the bravery and heroism of Lt. Gen. Pantaleon Villegas, better known as the Leon Kilat.
Gunstart of the 50K ultra is at 10 pm on Dec. 7; cut-off is in 10 hours or by 8 am the next day, Sunday, Dec. 8.
The startline of the route is in Bacong-going westward uphill to Valencia-downhill to Dumaguete-south to Bacong, Dauin, and Km. 24 in Zamboanguita (turning point), and northward back to Dauin and Bacong municipal park for the finish line.
Pantaleon Villegas was born in the town of Bacong to Don Policarpio Villegas and Doña íšrsula Soldi in July 1873. While he was based in Cebu, he became a leader of the Katipuneros, fighting during the Philippine Revolution against Spain. He was brutally killed in 1898 by Filipino traitors in the southern town of Carcar.

A statue of Leon Kilat atop a horse has been displayed at the Bacong municipal park since 1926. In 2008, the National Historical Institute turned over to the town of Bacong a historical marker in honor of Leon Kilat.
Other categories included in this Leon Kilat event include a 10.5 quarter marathon, a 21K half marathon, and a 31.5 three quarter marathon.
Race director is Paultom Paras. Event manager is coach Archie Nellas of Fit&Play; technical manager is Nino Pinero.
Deadline for registration is on Oct. 31 at DermCorner through Maripol Rotea-Tecson.
The 50K Leon Kilat Ultramarathon is organized by NOrSports headed by Manolito Saldivar II. Beneficiary of the proceeds from the registration fees is ONe Rescue.
Meanwhile, NOrSports is also organizing the #GoldenGirl Obstacle Course for Dec. 14 which involves 50 repetitions of various endurance drills. The #GoldenGirl physical challenge includes: 20 repetitions of mountain climbers; 15 repetitions sprinter hops; 10 seal jacks; and five push-ups.
