Dengue cases in Central Visayas rose by 105.8 percent from January 1 to April 13, compared to the same period last year, the Department of Health 7 said.
The Regional Epidemiological Surveillance Unit 7 has recorded 4,482 dengue cases in the region from January 1 to April 13, 2013, compared to the 2,177 dengue cases in the same period last year.
There were ten who died of the disease this year compared to 18 last year.
The age of the dengue patients range from two days old to 85 years old.
But the most number of cases were under the 6 to 10 years age group.
Among the cities and towns with the most number of cases are Cebu City with 723 cases and one death, Dumaguete City with 433 cases, Lapu-Lapu City with 283 cases and Sibulan town in Negros Oriental with 187 cases.
The others are Carcar City, Talisay City, Toledo City and Argao town in Cebu, and Tanjay City in Negros Oriental and Siquijor. (PNA)
