The Department of Education–Dumaguete City Division, in coordination with the local government unit of Bais City, donated relief goods to victims of Typhoon Odette in Bais City.
A total of 1,050 relief packs were distributed to six barangays in Bais City, namely: Basak, Cabanlutan, Panam-angan, Panala-an, Tamogong, and Olympia.
Local residents received bottled drinking water, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, rice, soap, milk, chocolate powder, coffee, and used clothing donated by the Philippine Elementary School Principals Association, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals of the Philippines.
“We are happy that my fellow school heads, teachers, and some private individuals and organizations have expressed their unwavering support, and have responded to our call without any hesitation. We are also thankful to our Division officials headed by Superintendent Elejorde for guiding us and providing the logistics in this activity,” said Noel Bayno, PESPA president, and head of South City Elementary School.
Similar relief operations were also conducted by DepEd Dumaguete City in nearby towns Manjuyod and Bindoy. Hundreds of families were able to benefit from the relief efforts. (PR)
