The Department of Education Division of Dumaguete launched Project Enhanced Mathematics Learning this month at North City Elementary School in barangay Piapi.
Project EML is one of the projects of the City Division this school year under the leadership of Schools Division Supt. Dr. Evangel Luminarias. It aims to enhance the teachers’ skills in the delivery of difficult Mathematical competencies.
Teacher-participants went through a training-workshop in the use of appropriate and innovative strategies in teaching Math competencies. They also developed creative Instructional Materials for the teaching of the competencies that are normally difficult to teach, demonstrating responsibility, accountability, and commitment towards the teaching of Mathematics.
The opening program took off in the morning on July 1 attended by Dr. Juditha Mapue, Dr. Miraluna Albina, Dr. Neri Ojastro, Rhoda Tabares, and Merlyn Tamparong.
Seventy-five selected Math teachers in grades 1 to 6 from elementary schools of DepEd Dumaguete participated in the training-workshop which was facilitated by Math teacher-trainers: Bernadith De Jesus, Pedrita Amahit, Gwen Bernard Alejandria, Renato Mondejar, Enriqueta Baylon, and Floranie Paitan.
The three-day training-workshop of project EML was helpful to the teachers to further enhance their teaching skills using the appropriate instructional materials. (Jacklyn G. Abalos/South City Elementary School)
