DepEd holds 32nd nat’l quiz bee

The Division of Dumaguete City of the Department of Education held the 32nd National Quiz Bee at the Magsaysay Memorial Elementary School.

Around 25 public and private elementary and secondary schools in Dumaguete City participated in the whole day activity. The participating schools showed their wit on three academic areas namely: HEKASI and Mathematics (elementary level) and Science & Technology (secondary level).

In the elementary level, West City Science Elementary School’s Ryscheizca Bensh T. Valerino clinched the 1st place in the Mathematics category. Valerino was followed by Jomari B. Ganhinhin of West City Exceptional Child Learning Center, and Gemico V. Tatoy of Silliman University School Elementary Department who grabbed 3rd place.

Meanwhile in the HEKASI category, Mae Geslani of St. Paul University Elementary Department bagged the 1st Place. West City Exceptional Child Learning Center’s Dessie Lu J. Eltanal got 2nd place, while Nisha Wyme Calimotan of West City Science Elementary School got 3rd place.

Both events were participated in by 20 public and private elementary schools in the City.

On the other hand, Mark Jason Paitan of the Ramon Teves Pastor Memorial — Dumaguete Science High School was declared champion in the Science & Technology category. Science High was followed closely by Edrian P. Taburnal of Piapi High School who grabbed 2nd place, while Dumaguete City National High School’s Wilfredo T. Mata Jr. bagged 3rd place.

Other participating high schools for this category were: Junob National High School, Camanjac National High School, Taclobo National High School, Catherina Cittadini — St. Louis School, Dumaguete Missionary Baptist Academy and Herminigilda F. Gloria Memorial High School.

The event was graced by key personnel of DepEd Division of Dumaguete City led by Dr. Emigdio B. Omictin, OIC Assistant Schools Division superintendent, education program supervisors, school principals, private school administrators, teachers and coaches of the participants.

The 32nd National Quiz Bee was spearheaded by the Division of Dumaguete City.
