The Department of Education-Negros Island Region has turned over P1,591,200 to three schools in Camarines Sur which were affected by Typhoon Niña early this year.
The recipient schools are Nato National High School (P500,000), Sagnay Central School (P500,000) , and Ocampo National High School (P591,200).
The amounts were raised from various fundraising activities and projects, dubbed Gugma Ko, Halad sa mga Gibagyo, initiated by the Parent-Teachers Associations, and from the 16 school Divisions of DepEd-NIR.
The money will be used solely for the repair of classrooms of the school recipients.
Present during the simple turn-over rites early this week were Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad, Asst. Regional Director Salustiano Jimenez, Education Support Services Division Chief Adolf Aguilar, the Schools Division Superintendents, and Assistant Schools Division Superintendents, curriculum and governance chiefs, PTA officers, and other regional and division officials.
Receiving the donations were the school principals of the three schools, and the Schools Division Superintendent of Camarines Sur. (Syril Repe/PNA, with reports from Claudio Sun)
