The Dumaguete City Division was declared the Overall 2nd Placer among 19 schools divisions in Region 7, clinching 41 gold medals, 45 silver, and 33 bronze.
The six-day sporting extravaganza, held from May 4 to 9 in Cebu City, showcased the skills and determination of student-athletes from across the Region.
“Incredible teamwork and unwavering dedication have propelled Dumaguete City Division to an exceptional second-place finish in the 2024 CVIRAA Meet. This achievement is a testament to the resilience and talent of our student-athletes, as well as the guidance and support provided by all members of the working committees. Together, they have instilled a culture of excellence and sportsmanship that has elevated Dumaguete City Division to new heights. We celebrate this remarkable accomplishment and look forward to continued success in the future,“ said Dr. Marina Salamanca, schools division superintendent.
Team CHADA Dumaguete showed outstanding performance in archery, arnis, swimming, and chess.
In the 2023 edition of the regional sports fest, SDO Dumaguete placed 3rd overall in Carcar City.
Assistant Schools Division Supt. Edmark Ian Cabio said the outstanding performance of the Dumaguete City Division in clinching 2nd place at the 2024 CVIRAA Meet is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of the athletes.
ASDS Cabio added that “their commitment to excellence, coupled with the support of our coaches and the entire division, has propelled us to this remarkable achievement. This accomplishment not only showcases our athletic prowess but also underscores the importance of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. We are immensely proud of our athletes and look forward to building on this success in the future.”
Negros Oriental Division was declared over-all champion in the Demo Sports category with 11 gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.
In 2nd place was Bayawan City Division raking in three-four-six medal harvest.
Tied in 3rd place are Dumaguete City Division and the Cebu City Division with an identical one-five-four medal tally.
In addition to the fierce competition on the field, the CVIRAA Meet also featured a special recognition for outstanding delegations.
Five special awards were given during the closing ceremonies. In the Visual Documentation Excellence category, Negros Oriental Division bagged the 1st place award.
The Division of Bayawan City brought home the Cleanest, Greenest and Eco-Friendliest title among 20 delegations.
Meanwhile, Siquijor Division was adjudged the Most Organized delegation.
Canlaon City Division was overall Most Disciplined delegation, while the Talamban Elementary School was declared the Best Billeting School.
As the curtains closed on the 2024 CVIRAA Meet, athletes from across Central Visayas showcased their exceptional talent and sportsmanship on the regional stage.
This year’s Palarong Pambansa will again be hosted in Cebu City. (Claudio Sun Jr.)
