Children aged between 12 to 17 years, with or without comorbidity, may now be inoculated against CoViD-19 with the available Pfizer vaccines.

The announcement comes as six children, including a three-year-old baby, were among the 26 new CoViD-positive cases reported last Tuesday.

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla, who supervised the setting up on Thursday of the third vaccination site at the Foundation University gymnasium along Locsin St. , stressed that the policy requiring prior registration of interested residents remains in place. She said only those with confirmed schedules will be allowed entry in all three vaccination sites, namely the barangay Pulantubig Gym along Rovira Road Extension; 2nd floor of Robinsons Place Dumaguete; and the Foundation University Greyhound Garden/ Gymnasium at the North Campus along V. Locsin St.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo thanked the administration of Foundation University for making their facilities available to help accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination program for Dumaguete residents, and achieve herd immunity sooner, as supplies of the vaccines continue to arrive.

To be eligible for vaccination, residents are reminded to register online, or at their barangay health centers so their names will be included in the master list. Then they wait for the call from the City Health Office confirming their vaccination schedule and location, and bring with them copies of the Medical Certificate (if with comorbidity).

Minors are required to also submit a copy of their Birth Certificate, valid ID of the parent or Special Power of Attorney for the guardian.

The parent or guardian must be present during the vaccination of the child, the statement from the City Health Office said.

Vaccinations for children with comorbidities will be done by pediatricians from the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.

To avoid overcrowding and to maintain order, only those who have confirmed schedules will be allowed entry in the vaccination sites. (PR)
