The Local School Board, chaired by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, approved last Friday the funding for the completion and operationalization of the Calenica Gono-Pal Technical-Vocational School located adjacent to the Batinguel Elementary School, in time for the start of classes on June 16.
Among the funding support that were approved included a reversion from Savings in the amount of P1.28 million to purchase and install three-phase transformers and accessories to energize the building; P3.5 million charged to the General Fund for the purchase of equipment and learning materials; and P7.5 million allocated for the completion of the first of two floors.
The City’s technical- vocational school is named after Calenica G. Pal, in honor of the Pal family who donated the one-hectare lot to the Dumaguete government for use by the Department of Education.
The Mayor said fraduates of the tech-voc curriculum are expected to acquire the required skills to improve their chances to employability in the increasingly-diverse and competitive job market.
Across the Calenica G. Pal Tech-Voc School building in the same one-hectare property in Batinguel sits the regional office of the Department of Education-Negros Island Region, now headed by Regional Director Dr. Ramir Uytico.
Among the officials present during the inauguration of both buildings were Dumaguete City Schools Division Supt. Edmark Ian Cabio, and Assistant Supt. Dr. Juditha Mapue. (Dgte PIO)
