The city government has set aside P500,000 for the renovation and improvement of Dumaguete City Public Market.

Through his funds, Senator Chiz Escudero distributed the same amount to all mayors in Negros Oriental last week in Bacolod City.

However, prior of the issuance of the check, Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria said he wrote the Senator for funding assistance for some of the city’s development projects.

The mayor personally received the check intended for the necessary repairs and renovations of some portions of city’s public market.

Sagarbarria clarified, that the fund is specifically set for the market as stated in the Special Allocation Release Order (SARO).

For now, the mayor has tasked the Market Supervisor Engr. Ronie Fortin to prepare a program of work for the said renovations.

The repairs will possibly starts after the Engr. Fortin presented the plan to determine the priority portion to be constructed.

Meantime, the public market of Dumaguete will have the cleanest and attractive comfort rooms in the coming months, the mayor said. (PIA NegOr/JCT)
