Press Club President Choy Gallarde vowed to do a formal profiling of all its members, so that the broadcast ‘barkers’ can also formally organize themselves. He also committed to maximize the use of the Press Club building located at the south end of the Dumaguete boulevard; provide computers with Internet connection for the use of all members, and a flat screen TV with cable system for news monitoring purposes.
Meanwhile, KPB President Shirlyn Abella said they will encourage radio stations that are illegally operating to comply with the permit requirements of the National Telecommunications Commission. She said they will also urge broadcast ‘barkers’ not yet accredited with the KBP to take the exams early next year to bring down the number of illegitimate media in the Province. She also called on the broadcasters’ active participation in activities for the national elections, coordinating with the Diocesan Electoral Board.
