Her Excellency Anke Reiffenstuel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, paid a courtesy call to Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to express gratitude to the local government, particularly to City Tourism Officer Jacqueline Antonio for the facilitating the repatriation of German nationals during the imposition of community quarantine cause by the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
Ambassador Reiffenstuel assures that Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental will get their shares in the 1.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by Germany to the Philippines that will help the country achieve herd immunity faster.
Mayor Remollo recognized the presence of a vibrant community of German expats in Dumaguete City who have immersed themselves in our culture and patronized our tourist sites and services.
Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Councilors Lilani Ramon, Michael Bandal, Edgar Lentorio, Manuel Patrimonio, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores and department heads of the City Government attended the ceremony welcoming the German envoy.
Mayor Remollo gave Ambassador Reiffenstuel a miniature tricycle, the most common mode of transportation in the city, as a token of friendship and appreciation. (PIO)
