SEMARANG, INDONESIA — The City of Dumaguete is preparing to host the 12th ASEAN School Games come November 2020 by officially presenting its plan to the Management Committee Meeting of ASEAN School Sports Council.
The Philippine delegation is headed by DepEd UnderSec. Revsee Escobedo, Regional Director Ramir Uytico as chief de Mission.
The local government officials who were part of the delegation are Dumaguete City Legal Officer Manuel Arbon, City HRMO Dinno Depositario, and City Information Officer Demz Rey Demecillo.

Regional Director Salustiano Jimenez led the local DepEd, together with Bayawan OIC-Assistant Supt. Adolf Aguilar who is the Regional focal person for the ASG Hosting, Dumaguete Supt. Evangel Luminarias, and some division officials .
The delegation will also benchmark Indonesia’s best practices as this year’s host of the 11th edition of the annual sporting event. Also known as the Youth Games, the ASG will usher in close to 2,500 secondary schools student athletes in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations who will compete in various events such as athletics, swimming, badminton, sepak takraw, table tennis, lawn tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Pencak Silat and other regional sports.
This annual sporting event is organized under the authority of the ASEAN Schools Sports Council — an apolitical regional sports council that promotes sports among member countries. This year’s ASG is hosted by Indonesia which run from July 17 to 24 in Semarang, the capital and largest city of Central Java province. (PR)
