More than a hundred persons living with diabetes in Dumaguete received free insulin last Sunday at the new City Health Building in Barangay Talay.

The free insulin is a gift from Insulin for Life-Australia, which recently renewed its partnership with the local government of Dumaguete for this charitable project.

The IFL-Australia was represented by its founder Ron Raab, and Neil Donelan, one of the directors.

Prior to the administration of insulin to persons living with diabetes during the 3rd Diabetes Camp, a series of lectures were conducted on proper handling and storage of insulin, disposal of sharps, and management of the disease.

Among the beneficiaries were Type 1 (priority) and Type 2 (adult) persons living with diabetes, with their family members and caregivers.

The event coincided with World Diabetes Day (Nov.14) with the theme Diabetes and Well-being.

To sustain the annual undertaking, the officials and local volunteers elected their first set of officers of the group Insulin Saving Lives-Dumaguete, founded in 2022.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo inducted the officers led by President Danilo Estoconing.

Other officers who took their oaths of office were: Vice-President Jerry Ramon, Secretary Alicia Lagarde, Assistant Sec. Josephine Refugio, Treasurer Roberta Puntual, Asst. Treasurer Lew Kristine Teves, Auditor Rajan Bais, and Asst. Auditor Nadette Mayan.

The Board of Directors include: Dr. Clarita Cadiz, Dr. Felmar Deza, Dr. Lourdes Estolloso-Ursos, Delia Serion, Chatty Harris, Joy Refugio, and Ciela Alatan. (PR)
