Cong. Manuel “Chiquiting” Sagarbarria is giving out cash to displaced workers in the 2nd District under the cash-for-work program.

Sagarbarria told reporters Friday that the money, which is coming from the Department of Labor and Employment, is the first of a two-part allocation, amounting to P23 million.

“We will be working with barangays — all 174 barangays in the 2nd District so every one will have an allocation,” he said.

Sagarbarria also obtained P7 million from the Department of Social Welfare & Development to help displaced workers due to the CoViD-19 pandemic.

Most of this will be spent in Dumaguete because this is really where most people lost jobs as daily wage earners, Sagarbarria said.

The cash assistance program is expected to be downloaded to the 2nd District, and will be ready for distribution after the Holy Week.
