In preparation for the 2011 Regional Science Fair, the DepEd, Division of Dumaguete City will conduct the Division Science Fair on September 20-21 at the City Sports and Multi-Purpose Center, Dumaguete City High School.

This year’s science month will focus on the theme: ‘’Science and Technology for Global Excellence’’, different public and private schools around Dumaguete are expected to actively participate for the upcoming event.

The science investigatory project is the highlight of the said fair in which the division of Dumaguete was awarded as the first placer in the regional competition last year and was able to compete on the national level.

The science fair will be a two day event which will have a total of 16 competitions to be held. On the first day, there will be seven contests for the elementary level which would include the Science Investigatory Project, Science quiz, Sci-Dama, Sci-art, Sim teacher, Science Journalism and Science Jingle. On the second day, nine contests to be participated by the secondary level. There will be a collage-making competition that will focus on the theme and the robotic dance competition.

Dr. Patria Zerna, member of the executive committee said that there are 18 public schools and seven private schools who will participate in the aforementioned event for the elementary division and seven public and private schools for the secondary level.

The Science Jingle and the Robotic Dance will be competed at the Robinsons Place Dumaguete on the second day which will be followed by the awarding ceremony.

Zerna explained that she hopes to come up with a successful event and hopes to be able to choose the best among the best of the contestants to represent the division for the regional competition. (Kaye Syvel Martinez/SU Masscom)
