The Department of Science & Technology through Science Education Institute is now accepting applications to its S&T Scholarship Programs for S.Y 2012-2013, namely RA 7687 Scholarship Program (Program A) and the Merit Scholarship Program (Program B).

Both education grants are open to graduating high school students who wish to pursue baccalaureate degree programs in the priority fields of study in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering.

Program A is specifically meant for the poor, talented and deserving students whose annual family income is P156,600 and below; those with higher annual family income may necessarily apply under Program B.

All applicants, however, must belong to the upper five percent of the graduating class or a member of the graduating class of a DOST-SEI-identified or DepEd recognized science high school, as certified by the school principal. They must not have taken any college or post- secondary course/units and have not taken any DOST-SEI scholarship examination, must be Filipino citizens with no pending application for immigration abroad, must be physically and mentally healthy and morally upright and must be a bonafide resident of a local municipality for the past four years.

Qualified students must submit: two recent and identical 1×1 ID pictures, a photocopy of their parents’ income tax return for CY 2010 or original copy of tax exemption certification from BIR, latest three consecutive electric bills, birth certificate, and the fully accomplished application form.

Applications with the requirements must be received by the DOST — Negros Oriental Provincial Science & Technology Center in Daro, Dumaguete by Oct. 21, 2011. A non-refundable testing fee of P200 will be collected from Program B applicants upon submission of applications.

The qualifying examination will be administered nationwide on Nov. 20.
