The deadline for application for the 2014 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships is on Aug. 23.

The Department of Science & Technology-Negros Oriental Provincial S&T Center is encouraging eligible and interested senior high school students to submit their filled-up application forms early and avoid last-minute submission. Forms are available at the PSTC, 24 Yakal St., Daro, or may be downloaded at www.ro7.dost.gov.ph.

To generate more applicants and increase their chances of passing the scholarship examination, the PSTC has been conducting a series of exam orientation sessions in targeted areas in the province. So far the PSTC has reached out to 360 prospective applicants, including 321 from District 1 (Manjuyod to Canlaon City) and 39 from District 3 (Basay and Dauin). The activities were conducted in cooperation with the local government units concerned.

The PSTC is scheduled to conduct more orientation sessions at Bais City Science HS (Aug. 12), Bayawan City S&T Education Center (Aug. 14), Bayawan City National HS (Aug. 14), and the PSTC in Dumaguete City (August 21). Students planning to attend said sessions will be required to submit their filled-up application forms upon registration.

Dumaguete-based applicants must first contact the PSTC (421-2100 or 225-4551) for scheduling and confirmation of participation in any of the four time slots: 8:00-10:00 AM; 10:00-12:00 AM; 1:00-3:00 PM; 3:00-5:00 PM.
