Got a spare room at home? Let it earn for you. The Department of Tourism’s Homestay Program will show you how.
The DOT Region VII will once again launch and promote the Homestay Program in Negros Oriental where foreign and domestic visitor influx is increasing for the past several years.
Myla Mae Bromo – Abellana, senior tourism operations officer of the Province, said the Homestay Program invites homeowners willing to accommodate paying guests in their spare rooms, and share the Filipino family experience with them.
Abellana said DOT-7 will soon conduct a Homestay Program Training for interested homeowners and their caretakers to ensure that the finest hospitality welcomes tourists in Negros Oriental.
The Homestay Program will enlarge the number of clean, comfortable, and fully-furnished rooms in the area to accommodate the increase in tourism traffic coming into Negros Oriental, while delivering economic benefits directly to participants, Abellana added.
Interested parties may contact the Provincial Tourism Unit at the Sidlakang Negros Village in Brgy. Piapi and look for Lorraine Ebuen or Ruvilu Lumacao. (BF Villasis)
