Ten individuals arrested in separate anti-drug operations were convicted 12 years to a maximum of 14 years to life imprisonment during promulgations by two regional trial courts.
Of the ten, nine are in the sala of RTC Branch 30 presiding Judge Rafael Crescencio Tan, Jr., who meted life terms to Jonathan Griffon Desor, Lucio Lauran Gadingan, Edna Alayon Abreja, Ryan Catalbas Sales, Jerry Javier Miral after they were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt for violating Section 5 of RA 9165 or for selling prohibited drugs locally known as shabu.
They were each fined P500,000.
Judge Tan also sentenced on Oct. 30 four others to suffer an indeterminate penalty of 12 years and one day to 14 years maximum term and to pay a fine of P400,000 each, including Jerry Miral who was earlier convicted for violating Section 5. They are Edmond Ray Amores Abella, Edna May Que Tabunda, Michael Val Gonzales, and Elino Omadlao Tubil.
At RTC Branch 34, presiding Judge Rosendo Bandal, Jr., sentenced Helen Dumadapat to suffer a life imprisonment for selling shabu and additional 12 years and one day to a maximum of 14 years for possession of the prohibited drugs with a total fine of P900,000.
Judge Bandal also sentenced Denmark Daleos for robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons from six to 10 years in jail and a fine of P7,190 representing the total amount of personal belongings he took from his victim.
But the 11th to be promulgated on the same day dashed to freedom due to insufficiency of evidence.
Judge Bandal acquitted Juanito Colan-colan for failure of the prosecution to provide sufficient evidence for the crime of theft of battery truck and welding materials.
Colan-colan said that even if justice was delayed having been detained for almost four years from December of 2013 of the crime that he did not commit, still thanked the judge and his legal counsel for the freedom that he received that day. (Juancho Gallarde/PNA)
