Without showing remorse, a resident of Barangay Mayabon, Zamboanguita in Negros Oriental on Friday accepted the decision of the court finding him guilty beyond reasonable doubt for selling and for possession of illegal drugs in violation of Section 5, and Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act as amended.

The court sentenced Friday Julitre Ramos to suffer a penalty of life imprisonment for selling .01 gram of shabu and an additional of 14 years maximum for possession of .02 grams of shabu through a buy-bust operation during a public dance in a neighboring barangay of Maluay, Zamboanguita in October of 2015.

He was also slapped with a total fine of P900,000.

Regional Trial Court Branch 30 Judge Rafael Crescencio Tan Jr. said he had observed that the accused has not shown any sign of remorse when the dispositive portion of the decision was read Friday, and was even smiling, which shows that he is really guilty of the crime charged.

What saddens him the most, according to Ramos, is the filing of annulment charges by his wife who lives in Siquijor, with whom he has a child, for reasons of incapacity and/or for indulging in illegal activity.

He voluntarily gave the information that annulment proceedings are scheduled in May and June this year.

Ramos is requesting the jail warden to delay sending him to the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila, because he will attend three hearings scheduled by the court for the annulment case filed by his wife.

He further said he was informed that his wife is seeing a foreigner. (PNA/JFP/Juancho Gallarde)
