A suspected drug personality who was on bail was gunned down by unidentified perpetrators in Dumaguete City over the weekend.
An initial police report said that at about 9 p.m. Saturday, Darwin Bongcasan Cabetingan, 42 years old, married, male, a resident of Barangay Cadawinonan in this city and a food vendor, was shot dead along Real Street fronting the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was at his stall when two suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle shot him four times in the head and other parts of the body.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.
Cabetingan’s wife told police investigators that he was previously arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act as amended but was out on bail.
He sustained on gunshot wound to the head and three gunshot wounds to his stomach.
Recovered from the crime scene were four empty shells for Caliber .45 pistol and one unit Samsung cellular phone.
Meanwhile, police arrested a suspected drug personality around 10:50 a.m. Monday in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs as amended.
A police report identified the suspect as Margarito Tindoc Alota, 41, male, a resident of Sitio Cogon 2, Barangay San Jose in Tanjay City.
Initial police investigation showed that intelligence operatives of the Tanjay Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Regional Office (PDEA-NIRO) conducted a joint anti-narcotics operation in the above-mentioned place.
The suspected was arrested following a buy-bust operation where he allegedly sold suspected shabu to an undercover operative.
Recovered from the suspect were one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu granules and a P500 marked bill used in the buy-bust operation. (Judy Flores Partlow)
