DSWD-7 awards NegOr LGUs for 4Ps implementation

The Department of Social Welfare & Development in Region 7 has recognized some local government units in the Province with good practices in support of the implementation of Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps).

In a consultation dialogue, DSWD-7 acknowledged the good practices of the municipality of Pamplona for family and youth development sessions implementation, City of Tanjay for convergence practices, and the Tayasan town for the DSWD-DILG Joint Memorandum Circular that further strengthened the impact of the program implementation.

Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo said the LGU sees to it they allocate funds for family and youth development activities to deliver the best brand of service to their constituents.

“First developing the youth and seeing to it that our smallest unit of our society in our locality is being taken cared of,” she said.

She said that despite their low budget being a third class municipality, they still ensure that funds are allocated for programs for the youth and their families.

“Because our youth and the families of Pamplona matter to the administration, gihimo gyud namo na priority ang pag assist sa nagka lainglaing national government agencies na moanha sa among magdala ug kaayohan para mas makahatag ug nindot na serbisyo publiko sa atung katawhan,” the Mayor said.

Sibulan town is recognized for being the only LGU with exemplary performance in resolving 4Ps gender-based violence.

DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero, 4Ps division chief Jiah Sayson, and 4Ps Party List representative Jonathan Clement Abalos II presented the certificate and plaque of recognition to the awardees.

DSWD-7 has honored all LGUs in Negros Oriental and Siquijor for their local issuances, ordinances or resolutions supporting the 4Ps.

“These awards inspire us to continually work passionately and professionally so as to bring something good and worthwhile to the table of public service every day,” the Pamplona Mayor said.

The LGUs that have been recognized for their complete, quality, and timely JMC quarterly submissions are, namely: Amlan, Bacong, Bais City, Basay, Bayawan City, Bindoy, Canlaon City, Dauin, Dumaguete City, La Libertad, Pamplona, San Jose, Sta. Catalina, Siaton, Sibulan, Tanjay City, Tayasan, Valencia, and Zamboanguita in Negros Oriental; and Enrique Villanueva, Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan, and Siquijor Capital in Siquijor province.

The LGUs with the highest compliance rate in education were also recognized, namely: Amlan, Bacong, Dauin, Dumaguete City, Guihulngan City, Mabinay, San Jose, Tanjay City, Valencia, and Zamboanguita in Negros Oriental; and Enrique Villanueva, Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan, and Siquijor Capital in Siquijor province.

The LGUs with the highest compliance rate in health were, namely: Amlan, Basay, Bindoy, Guihulngan City, Jimalalud, La Libertad, Mabinay, Manjuyod, Siaton, and Sibulan in Negros Oriental; and Enrique Villanueva, Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan, and Siquijor in Siquijor province.

The towns of Ayungon, Dauin, La Libertad, and Tanjay City in Negros Oriental, and the towns of Enrique Villanueva, Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan, and Siquijor Capital in Siquijor Province received recognition as LGUs having the most self-sufficient households.

“The issuance of JMC cultivates a partnership between the DSWD and the DILG ensuring the implementation of the 4Ps at the local level,” said DSWD Assistant Sec. Maristela.

The 4Ps is the major poverty alleviation program of the national government that invests in the health, nutrition, and education of the poor and eligible households.

The psychosocial and educational components provided through the Family Development Session lead the beneficiaries to have improved and sustained well-being.

The government implemented the program through DSWD and institutionalized 4Ps in 2019 by Republic Act 11310. (JCT/PIA7 NegOr)
