Regional officials of the Department of Social Welfare & Development Office and the Office of Civil Defense have finalized the plan to build a warehouse for relief goods and adequate field office in the lots owned by the City under a usufruct agreement.
The team from DSWD Region 7 led by Division Chief Lilibeth Cabiara and OCD-7 Director Segundo Bolo met with Mayor Felipe Remollo to discuss their plan.
She stressed the benefits of the establishment of the two facilities for the people of Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental in responding to calamities and post disaster recovery.
The Mayor acknowledged that the warehouse for relief goods will ensure efficient logistics response in the delivery and distribution of food and non-food items, increased storage capacity and improved disaster response supply chain so that help will be received by the victims and displaced persons.
The proposed locations of the warehouse and field office are the LGU-owned lots adjacent to the Metro-Dumaguete Diversion road that connects Sibulan up north, Valencia to the West and Bacong down south and readily accessible to land, air and sea assets to ensure faster response during an emergency.
