Some 1,000 to 1,500 negrenses join the rest of the country in granting President Rodrigo Roa Duterte authority to declare a revolutionary government during a rally at the Quezon Park in Dumaguete City Thursday afternoon.
Contingents from as far as Basay town in the south to Canlaon City in the north converged at the Quezon Park as early as 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon for the scheduled rally at 3p.m., which was spearheaded by the Kilusang Pagbabago (KP) and the People’s Solidarity Federal Party (PSFP).
At exactly 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon, the declaration was read by KP lead convenor Bingbong Megio of Bais City.
For Duterte supporters in Negros Oriental, Megio said it has successfully delivered the message granting the President the power to declare a revolutionary government.
Megio further said the peoples initiative was for the purpose of granting Duterte the revolutionary powers and not for the President to assume revolutionary powers because it is against the Constitution. It is purely the people who rise up and give him the transitory revolutionary powers and for him to accept it.
The proclamation is for the President to establish a federal system of government and abrogate the 1987 Constitution, run after corrupt public officials in government and in the private sector, strengthen the security of the country through an Internal Security Act, fast track the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, destroy illegal drug syndicates in the country and other criminal syndicates and to open up the country’s economy to all those who would want to help us.
Speakers included marginalized groups in the community, including barangay officials, representative from the youth, and the former first president of the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), Dr. Henry A. Sojor.
Meanwhile, another group of Duterte supporters conducted a separate activity at the NORSU Bajumpandan Campus.
The Rebolusyunaryong Duterte group was headed by provincial chairman Capt. Abdias Elnar.
Megio welcomed the presence of the group and would have wanted for them to consolidate forces because nobody can claim to be responsible for this but all Duterte die-hard supporters. (PNA)
