The Department of Interior & Local Government has awarded Dumaguete city with the 2014 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance by the Council for the Welfare of Children.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria accepted the award in behalf of the City last Tuesday from DILG-7 Regional Director Atty. Rene Burdeous.
With Director Burdeous were OIC-DILG Negros Oriental Provincial Director Dennis Quinones, Dumaguete City DILG Officer Farah Gentuya and Sonny Pesigan, City DILG Officer of Tanjay City.
The DILG chose to give the award to Dumaguete City, after assessing its performance in the deliver of social services that promotes the welfare of children, also called the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit.
This audit system measured with the City’s performance in the delivery of services that generates positive results for children.
The Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance award is a testament to the City’s commitment to promote child rights to survival development, protection and participation. (SGR)
