Dumaguete City Administrator William Ablong announced that he is willing to help the new leadership even as he admits he is among city officials and employees holding co-terminous positions whose appointments will end as soon as the new set of elected officials assume office starting July 1, 2016.
Ablong said Tuesday his designation as the city administrator is on top of his career appointment as the city agriculturist of Dumaguete City.
But he made it clear he is willing to help the new administration in his capacity as city agriculturist and that all the time he is ready for whatever additional task mayor-elect Felipe Antonio Remollo would want him to do.
Ablong was city administrator during the time of the late mayor Agustin Ramon Perdices and retained by the present mayor, Manuel Sagarbarria.
“I don’t know about the new leadership if they still need my services as city administrator, but I am open, after all, my career appointment is being the city agriculturist of the city”, Ablong said.
Meanwhile, Ablong said acquisition of plastic drums for the city’s farmers will push through even if the rains have come.
The purchase of plastic drums was part of the mitigating measures to combat the long drought but sad to say processing of the papers took longer than expected.
The acquisition of the plastics drums was supposed to ensure that farmers will have enough supply of water even with dried up irrigation systems, creeks and rivers during the El Niño phenomenon.
Each farmer organization will have five plastic drums each while three power sprayers will also be purchased for their use. (PNA)
