The City Government of Dumaguete through the City Disaster Office, joined the nationwide observance of National Disaster Consciousness Month.
The activity was participated the city local officials, barangay officials, students and different national and local agency.
Joe Chu, head of the City Disaster Office, said this year’s theme is Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan.
Chu said the City Government has a 24-hour stand-by emergency rescue team.
He urged every sector to actively participate in disaster preparedness, and to remain vigilant amidst the onset of the rainy season.
The celebration comes at a time when a low pressure area is currently spotted east of Mindanao, that will affect the Visayas region including Cebu. (PIO)
