The city government of Dumaguete, through the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, has organized a rescue team to act as first responders during times of calamities and natural and man-made disasters.
Members of the group dubbed 348 RESCUE comprises city government employees, who took their oath during the regular Monday morning flag raising ceremony at City Hall, said city information officer Steve Gabriel.
The rescuers vowed to do their best in volunteering as members of 348 RESCUE.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, who led the oath taking, lauded the volunteerism spirit of the local government employees on top of their regular jobs.
A new vehicle has also been assigned to the 348 RESCUE team, said Gabriel. Randy Saldua, head of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council thanked the mayor and other city officials for the creation of the rescue group and for the support and logistics provided them. (PNA) JFP
