For the fourth time, geothermal leader Energy Development Corp. went back to Guihulngan, Tayasan and Jimalalud, Negros Oriental to distribute P500,000 worth of additional relief goods to families affected by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that devastated these towns a month ago.

The company also delighted the children with the little bags of goodies that were given out to them. To date, EDC has already given out P1.5 million worth of bags containing rice, canned goods, bottled water, blankets and flashlights to the earthquake victims there.

“We have decided to go back and hand out more relief goods to them because we knew that a lot of the residents there still lacked food and water supply,” said EDC Vice President for its Southern Negros Geothermal Production Field, Engr. Dwight A. Maxino. “We are thankful to our employee-volunteers who tirelessly packed these goods and distributed them.”

EDC likewise provided potable drinking water to its host community in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental and assisted them in repairing their water system that was damaged by the earthquake.

In recognition for its efforts to help families affected by this natural disaster in Negros Island, the Private Sector Disaster Management Network has included EDC among its partners.

“This is our Community Partnerships Program at work. We’re glad that PSDMN took note of our contributions to the province in these trying times,” added Maxino.
