Close to 200 endurance runners from around the country have been running since Saturday, Dec. 10 to finish the 102-kilometer overnight race from Bayawan to Dumaguete in a span of 20 hours.
Race Director Paultom Paras said the 4th Negros 100 Ultra this year generated more first-time and serious distance runners from: Bohol, Bremen in Germany, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, MetroManila, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, Lanao del Norte, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Surigao del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Sibugay, and Negros Oriental.
The ultra is organized by the Negros Oriental Sports Development Program, and supported by two local running teams: the Metro Dumaguete Roadrunners’ Club, and the Dumaguete Adventure Runners & Striders.
John Bael, Maripol Rotea-Tecson, Timmy Besario, and Enrique Villareal who are gunning for a four-peat ultramarathon finish.
Locals running for a three-peat finish are Joyce Catacutan-Solomon, Nino Pinero, Franco Divino, Arcel Bohol, and Eniceto Pionela
The categories are Solo, Man & Wife, 25k Relay, and 50K Relay.
Overnight security along the 102-kilometer route is provided by the Negros Oriental Provincial Police and the Philippine Army.
