Dumagueteños woke up to the sad news Thursday morning about the demise of one of their cultural icons.
Evelyn Rose Romano Aldecoa, died in her sleep. She was 56.
Evelyn taught at the College of Performance and Visual Arts at Silliman University. She also produced and directed plays at Silliman involving actors from the Dumaguete community for many years. She directed her last play, Godspell, just this month.
She has performed in concert invariably with the whole Aldecoa family, the Aldecoa trio (with Jenny and Michael), and lately the Aldecoa duet (with Jenny), as in this 2007 performance in Luce Auditorium, dubbed “
On Wings of Song.”
