The People’s Solidarity Federal Party has launched a signature campaign for the granting of President Duterte revolutionary powers to be able to undertake all the reforms necessary in achieving a federal form of government.
PSFP national chairman Atty. Joel Obar stressed Tuesday that “unless we shift into a revolutionary constitution similar to the 1986 Constitution that allowed Congress to do all the reforms, it will not be able to achieve its goals because Congress has its own interests”.
One indication is that Congress cannot even confirm Sec. Gina Lopez, the President’s appointee as head of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources, and second, Congress has deleted acts of plunder from the death penalty.
Most likely, Congress would not want federalism in the manner that they want it, Obar pointed out.
He is of the belief Congress would want a federal form of government which is under their terms where they will still be holding power and wealth in this country.
“In the political party that we formed, the wealth should go back to the tribes,” Obar told participants to the first provincial assembly of the party held at its headquarters in Boloc-boloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental recently.
Under the regalian doctrine, natural resources of the state should be given to the smaller states so that the people on the ground will enjoy their own natural resources and the corporate control of oligarchy will be removed.
PSFP was founded on Feb. 25 in Baquio City with chapters started to be organized in different parts of the country.
It has a federal structure unlike other political parties which is centralized, Obar told reporters.
It was also clarified during the assembly that for those who would want to join the PSFP, should officially leave their respective political parties where they are presently members.
Obar said the principles and structure of PSFP are entirely different from that of existing political parties.
Those who wish to join should pass through the education committee. (JFP/JG)
