Federal party backs Martial Law

The national chairman of the People’s Solidarity Federal Party on Friday announced he is supporting President Duterte’s decision imposing Martial Law in Mindanao.

“Let us trust the President; his judgement is the best judgment as of now, and we will observe Congress how will they react to the declaration of Mindanao under Martial Rule,” said Atty Joel Obar.

Obar said President Duterte is in the process of exhausting all remedies to protect the country and trusting the president now is this difficult development as a country is the most important thing to do.

What worries Obar are pronouncements made to the effect that there was nothing to worry about the incident in Marawi because “negotiations were made between the Mayor and the Governor for international purposes only”.

Obar said he believes an international hand is orchestrating and manipulating this to happen. He said that if it can happen in Marawi, there’s no reason it can’t happen anywhere in the country.

Obar further said something is wrong with the present situation where a local problem has now become an international issue.

He enjoined provincial leaders of the Peoples Solidarity Federal Party to rally behind the decision of the President and to support the President.

He said he hopes the incident in Marawi is not part of a destabilization move because if it is so, the President was correct in declaring Martial Law in Mindanao. (Juancho Gallarde)
