First day of school is utterly invigorating for some, but on the flip side of the coin, it can also be terrifying, nerve-racking, and daunting.
All of which depends on the institution we endow our children’s education to.
Last June 3, an exhilarating journey towards learning and development began for the teachers, staff, parents, and most especially the students.
This educational voyage will only be facile and compelling if we equip ourselves with the proper attitude, ample school supplies, an open-minded outlook, and a dose of perseverance.
As the school year starts, parents ensure that their children are equipped with enough school supplies such as a) art supplies like crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors and glue for their creative side to dazzle; b) writing supplies namely, notebooks, pencils, eraser, pad paper, and sharpener to exercise their dexterity; and c) a grooming kit complete with powder, a handkerchief, comb, soap, toothbrush, and tooth paste for their dental and sanitary practices.
Although these tangible necessities are quite essential, parents are also reminded that their child’s eagerness to learn, and his emotional readiness is sine qua non for holistic learning to happen.
Moreover, it is our task to orient and prepare the students of the academic training that lies ahead.
The new school year ushers new beginnings, but it also drives worries and anxieties due to the numerous uncertainties it brings.
As parents, we normally worry that our children might end up in the wrong classroom or might not get the best education we aspire them to obtain. It might be inevitable but it’s not necessary because public educational institutions assure unparalleled service towards our enrollees.
The Department of Education has established projects and programs that prepare all schools to be ready for the opening of the school year, to name a few, Brigada Eskwela, Early Enrollment, and the School Readiness Assessment (SReA).
Teachers have also prepared themselves to be effective facilitators of learning by attending in-service trainings and seminars earlier in the summer.
They are committed to provide a learning-inducive environment, ensuring that the students’ 10-month stay in the four-walled classroom will not be soulless and futile, instead it will make them love learning, and yearn for more knowledge.
This school year, the academe will continue to open its doors to welcome all who are in the pursuit of knowledge, keep out close-mindedness and unfounded fears, build firm thresholds to hold those whose knowledge, language and skills are shaky, and open windows for learnings to extend to the world beyond the classroom walls.
