The top two winners in the Timbayayong Awards in Negros Oriental on Monday received individual checks for development projects representing their prizes for the 2013 annual search.
The Timbayayong Awards is an annual search for the outstanding local government unit-NGO/people’s organization partnership showcasing projects for local development.
The grand winner for 2013 are the Tandayag Fishermen’s Association in partnership with the Amlan municipality government, who presented as their area of cooperation their undertaking on the protection and conservation of marine resources, said Capitol spokesperson Adrian Sedillo.
They received P200,000 worth of projects for implementation, which they said they would use for the acquisition of kerosene lamps and bancas (small outrigger boats).
The runner-up for the Timbayayong Awards are the Vallehermoso LGU and the Rotary Club of Dumaguete South for their joint undertaking on maternal health care.
They were awarded P150,000 worth of projects to sustain their health care program, and according to them, they would use the prize for the establishing of a birthing facility in Vallehermoso, the farthest town of Negros Oriental in the north.
