Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Remollo has commended the administration of Foundation University, led by President Victor Vicente “Dean” Sinco, for making its facilities available to the City to help accelerate the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

The Mayor said the City is grateful to Foundation University for sharing the use of its gymnasium at the North Campus along V. Locsin St. which fits regulations by the Department of Health.

The Foundation University gymnasium, called the Greyhound Garden, will be used as the third CoViD vaccination site of the Dumaguete government, which has been found to have adequate space for waiting area, registration, pre-vaccination counseling & final consent, screening, vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring.

“Foundation University has always partnered with the city government of Dumaguete in its endeavors,” said FU Vice President Atty. Ebenezer Y. Lim. “This time, we have allowed the use of the Greyhound Garden as an additional viable vaccination site after careful planning of safety and security to help the City fast-track its vaccination program,” he said.

FU Safety Officer Russel Jamili said the location was finally accredited by the City Health Office after it was assessed three times.

In return, the City Health Office has agreed to give vaccination priority to the remaining unvaccinated employees and students of Foundation University.

“FU is one with the government in its goal of achieving ‘herd immunity’,” Atty. Lim added.

For this third vaccination site, the Mayor has directed the hiring of more health workers to be deployed at the FU Greyhound Garden.

The team includes a physician, a registered nurse/midwife in charge of screening and assessment and for the actual vaccination, an allied medical science professional for health education, two health workers from partner agencies for documentation of vital signs.

Some 50,104 eligible residents, or half of the target eligible population (100,542 residents) in Dumaguete have thus far received at least one dose of the CoViD-19 inoculation.

The other CoViD vaccination centers managed by the City Health Office are located at barangay Pulantubig gym along Rovira Drive Extension, and at the 2nd floor of Robinsons Mall.

Another vaccination site is managed by the Integrated Provincial Health Office at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex at the Capitol Area. (With reports from Dgte PIO)
