As Foundation University High School prepares to reinvent itself as Foundation Preparatory Academy (FPA), its roots of fostering individual holistic development and generating global critical thinkers remains the same. FPA has enthusiastic teachers, a great learning environment and a unique FPA spirit. With the advent of the Senior High School Program of the Department of Education, FPA has to revitalize its academic brand.
In its quest for excellence in mind, body and character, Foundation Preparatory Academy’s Senior High School utilizes iPad as the choice medium of instruction for Senior High School.
Chris Calumba, FPA Grade School Principal, has this to say. “The adaptation of the iPad as an instrument of learning, a completely portable learning tool, takes the process of the delivery of educational material to the students and learning and mastery of concepts by the students to a whole, new level. There has been a transformation in the classroom and to illustrate a few of the unique features of the iPad in the classroom are the following:
– Through the iPad, teachers are able to connect with students beyond the walls of the classroom and campus.
– Through the iPad, information is more readily available thru the millions of data sources on the internet. Of course reliability of this data can be questionable, but at FU many of these sources are screened prior to distribution to the students
– Teachers can work interactively with the students thru the use of widely available apps and also thru apps/ebooks that have been produced at FU.
– Most of us are visual learners whereas present, traditional methods of teaching are not conducive for visual learners. The iPad being a graphic tool very much supplements the innate capability of visual leaners. Hence the end result is that the students can comprehend better and apply the concepts presented in all the lessons.”
The value of iPad learning lies on relevance, comprehension and understanding of what the future holds for all, be it students, teachers or parents.
For FU, the iPad Program has secured a better and stronger foothold in educational setting at the Foundation Univerity Grade School & High School, and very soon in our Senior High School.
The design, portability, and practicality of the iPad have made it an indispensable tool for the learning toolkit of students. With the presence of iPads in the classrooms and on campus, teachers and parents have seen and realized noticeable changes to the demeanor and abilities of the students thereby better securing a successful future for our citizenry.

Foundation Preparatory Academy’s goal is to move up a couple of notches to be of international caliber. Presently, the University Grade School and High School caters to children of Expats especially Europeans. Most European schools are social in nature and require international baccalaureate degrees, which will qualify students to enroll in European colleges and universities.
FPA through the international baccalaureate program will prove to be challenging and difficult for students but will definitely develop their level of intelligence.
“At FPA, we have redefined what teaching and learning needs to be in the 21st century. You have an opportunity to engage with learning to a degree never before experienced and to see teachers engaged and motivated with their craft to a degree never before acquired,” said University President Victor Vicente “Dean” Sinco.
He added, “Foundation Preparatory Academy is more than just a building and an education. FPA is the best example of an effort to promote quality and advanced education that allows students to have access to, and not to be deprived of, leading edge teaching and learning methodologies.“
