The Board of Trustees of Foundation University in Dumaguete City recently admitted five individuals as corporate members.
The new corporate members have been identified as having provided significant contributions to the University and continue to provide critical and valuable assistance to the school with respect to its academic development and extension programs.
Victor Vicente Sinco, chairman of the Board, identified the new corporate members as Dumaguete City Administrator William Ablong, FU Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Eva Melon, FU Graduate School Dean Dr. Aparicio Mequi, California-based environmentalist Dennis Welter and Hawaii-based funding adviser Charlotte Tanaka.
Sinco said Ablong, who studied at FU as a working student, was selected because he represents the kind of individuals that university founder Vicente G. Sinco wanted the school to produce.
Melon, on the other hand, was chosen for her loyalty to the university, having been a student since her high school years and later serving as a teacher and an administrator for more than 30 years.
Mequi was chosen for his valuable contributions and innovations in the university.
Sinco said the addition of these members will greatly enhance FU’s ability to address the challenges and opportunities as it continues to grow and develop as a significant partner in the education sector in the university town.
The addition of the five new members raised the FU corporate membership to 19.
Last year, the FU Board of Trustees also added other members as corporate members. They are Christopher Sinco, a great grandson of Foundation University’s founder, Dr. Vicente Sinco, and currently and IT Development Engineer of the Microsoft Corporation USA; Renato Dragon, a former member of the House of Representatives, and president of Royal Savings Bank;
