While Foundation University scrapped this year’s traditional Kasadyaan Festival to give more aid to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda, it will still hold its Alumni Homecoming on Saturday, December 14, at the FU Green.
Charlotte Carino, president of the Foundation University Alumni Association (FUAA), Inc. said the decision to continue with the Alumni Homecoming was decided to allow the alumni to meet and make plans for the coming year.
Aside from strengthening and rekindling friendships, the homecoming will also give alumni the chance to meet some of their teachers, share their life stories and reminiscing memorable experiences of their time at the University.
“The homecoming, which will be held from 2-7 p.m., will be a festive occasion, where alumni may bring goodies and food to share with others,” Carino said.
The event will also feature an array of exhibits from paintings, architectural designs, hydroponics to robotics and bazaars for plants and agricultural products which the alumni can enjoy along with the program.
One of the major events during the Homecoming is a benefit concert to support the university’s “Estudio Damgo” project and to celebrate music across the decades. The benefit concert will feature local artists like the popular Hopia band. Hopia is a group of musicians coming from different walks of music gathered through what they call ‘korums’ (jamming sessions).
Tagged “Estudio Damgo Benefit Concert,” the event promises to be a huge musical extravaganza for a good cause, as it will benefit the flood survivors of typhoon Sendong at Brgy. Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City. The concert will also serve as a tribute to the alumni and the honoree batches that will grace the homecoming and enjoy the cocktails preceding the live concert.
