This year’s superhero-themed Kasadyaan Festival ended the year 2016 at Foundation University with various accomplishments and long-lasting memories.
The administration and students culminated the week-long Kasadyaan Fest with the 67-year-old Lantern & Lights Parade tradition along Rizal Blvd., an all-Michael Jackson hits concert by the Abuhuni Band, Abuhuni Choir, and the Buglas Sayaw Dance Troupe, and a spectacular fireworks display.
Foundation Preparatory Academy (Grade School and Junior High) won the top prize for the Kasadyaan Parada in their portrayal of Wonder Woman.
The comic book character Wonder Woman had earlier been appointed by the UN as special envoy for the Empowerment of Women and Girls. The super heroine’s image was supposed to be used by the UN on social media platforms to promote especially to the young people on issues against gender-based violence and for the fuller participation of women in public life.
In the Parada, the College of Business Administration (Green Lantern) was adjudged as 2nd placer, followed by the FPA Senior High School (Spiderman) who garnered the third spot.
The battle of the best production number themed after the superheroes was held on Dec. 9 through the Gabii sa Pasundayag. The College of Business Administration was proclaimed champion of the Pasundayag. The College of Hospitality Management (Flash) and FPA Senior High School landed on the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
On Dec. 8, Gabriella Mahmuti (FPA) won the crown as Hara sa FU.
April Anne Eroja (College of Education) emerged as 1st runner up and Ivy Patajo (representing Agriculture, Criminology, and Engineering) won 2nd runner-up.
At the Kasadyaan Village, several booths were patterned after the superhero assigned to the respective Colleges and departments.
The FU Student Government held games and activities, while the colleges and departments had booth gimmicks meant to spice up the mood at the Green.
Foundation University’s pursuit of education with emphasis on creativity in relation to culture and arts has been a long-standing tradition.
