Foundation University highlighted its celebration of its 62nd Founding Anniversary with the inauguration of five new or refurbished offices in its desire to better serve its students.
Rev. Fr. Julius Heruela, university chaplain, led university officials in the inauguration and blessing rites for the expanded University Clinic, the University Extension Office, the Creative Department, College of Hospitality Management Travel Agency and the Greyhounds TV Studio.
Victor Vicente Sinco, vice president for Finance and Administration, said that being a non-stock, non-profit and non-sectarian institution, Foundation University puts back its earnings to improve its facilities.
The University had been steadily putting in money to improve its physical plant since the mid-1990s, in what has since been described as the University’s renaissance period.
Right after its inauguration, the fully equipped digital Greyhounds TV studio became the venue for two live TV shows on Fil Products Cable TV 6 hosted by anchorman Neil Rio and wholly produced by FU broadcasting students. Live TV shows over SkyCable are being planned as well.
The TV studio complements the University’s broadcasting capabilities which started with the acquisition of its DYFU-FM radio station.
