Foundation University bested six other universities and colleges in Dumaguete by winning the best display booth and the championship in the flairtending competitions during the recently concluded Tourism Week celebration at the Sidlakang Negros Village last Sept. 27.
The Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) and the Tourism Educators Council of Negros Oriental (TECNO) also awarded the Asian College of Science and Technology (ACSAT) for having the best activity booth and the St. Paul University Dumaguete for having the most creative booth while Colegio de Sta. Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA) won as the Tourism Quiz Bowl champion.
The theme of the Tourism Week celebration, which was held from September 18 to 27, was “Tourism-Linking Cultures.”
The other schools represented in the celebration were the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), Metro Dumaguete College (MDC) and Systems Technology Institute (STI).
Mr. Audison Aranas of SPUD and Ms. Ivy Clemente of ACSAT were also crowned as this year’s Mr. & Mrs. Ambassadors, respectively, during the awarding night.
Dumaguete City First Lady Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, former Negros Oriental Vice-Governor Mariant Escaňo-Villegas and Tourism & Accreditation Officer Marlon Barrientos of the Department of Tourism Regional Office composed the board of judges.
TECNO president Rafael Duhaylungsod said the celebration started with an opening salvo and presentation of Tourism Ambassadors. This was followed by the 2nd Tourism Educators Congress held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center with the induction of officers of TECNO. (PIA NegOr/Jennifer Catan-Tilos)
