Foundation University is also thinking global.
The College of Business Administration organized a forum on the ASEAN Integration, held July 14 at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall with the theme ASEAN Integration: Its Impact on Economy and Technology.
According to CBA Dean Charlotte Carino, the forum aimed to prepare the students for the economic transformation that the country can go through, by the time they graduate.
The 2002 concept of ASEAN Integration is aimed at narrowing the development divide among member-countries especially with Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam; accelerating economic mergers within the group, and enhancing the ASEAN’s competitiveness in the world.
The priorities include infrastructure (transport and energy); human resource development (public sector capacity building, labor and employment, and higher education); information and communication technologies; regional economic integration (trade in goods and services, customs, standards, and investments).
Tourism and poverty- alleviation have also been included.
John Buie, founder and chairperson of Sci5 Development Asia Inc., a Dumaguete-based service provider for web application development, marketing and design, was the resource speaker.
He discussed ways how the country can be at par with key ASEAN counterparts to remain competitive and continually produce globally-competent students.
He also discussed about competitiveness trainings, and ways to establish corporate partnerships.
The forum at the FU campus was participated by Foundationites and the administration.
