Close to 500 Valencianons trooped to the town plaza last Saturday, December 7, to avail of free medical treatment from the medical mission of the FU Alumni Association, Inc. and the Philippine Army’s 302nd Brigade.

Valencia Mayor Edgar Teves welcomed the volunteer doctors, nurses and the FUAA officers and members. Teves proudly declared his strong support for the activity, being a Foundationite himself.

Doctors from the Philippine Army, the City Health Office and the Municipality of Valencia worked the whole afternoon to attend to the medical and dental needs of Valencianons. Some of the patients were brought to the site from faraway barangays by the Energy Development Corporation. The EDC also provided medicines to the patients.

FU Alumni Director Maybelle Cabcaban also took the opportunity to meet with FU alumni living in Valencia and invite them to the campus for the alumni homecoming.

FUAAI President Charlotte Carino said she was happy that the activity was successful. “The activity pushed through because of the support of our alumni and friends, who stopped at nothing to surmount all the problems that came with organizing this medical mission,” she said.

Carino expressed confidence in holding a similar medical mission in another town in Negros Oriental next year. (Paul Edward Bajas)
